According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the proportion of women aged 35 and above—those beyond the optimal childbearing age—in China has been increasing year by year. This demographic shift closely aligns with rising trends in delayed marriage, postponed childbearing, and infertility. Currently, the infertility rate among couples of reproductive age in China has climbed to approximately 18%, posing challenges not only to family well-being but also to the stability of the national age structure and long-term social development.

As a result, assisted reproductive technologies (ART), which help infertile couples achieve their reproductive goals through medical intervention, are gaining increased national attention and policy support. In 2023, Beijing took the lead in including ART services in its medical insurance reimbursement scheme, spurring payment model reforms for assisted reproduction across other regions as well.

On April 25, the 2024 ZGC International Technology Trade Fair  and Global Technology Transaction Ecosystem Partnership Conference was held in Beijing under the theme "Innovation: Building a Better World." The event brought together leading scientists in cutting-edge fields and pioneering enterprises from key innovation sectors to discuss emerging technologies and future industry trends, with the shared goal of harnessing science and technology to benefit people around the world. As part of the conference, several advanced technology project agreements were signed, aiming to promote the practical application and commercialization of scientific achievements, thereby driving the vigorous growth of the life and health industry.

During the conference, CellStore and Peking University Third Hospital officially signed a cooperation agreement on the "Assisted Reproductive Cryopreservation and Thawing Solution Series" project. Dr. Yuling Sun, Founder of CellStore, and Dr. Yida Tang, President of Peking University Third Hospital, attended the signing ceremony in person, marking the establishment of a deep technological partnership between the two parties in the field of assisted reproduction.

The Reproductive Medicine Center at Peking University Third Hospital is renowned as the birthplace of China's first IVF baby and is a national leader in assisted reproductive research and clinical applications. CellStore, on the other hand, brings to the table its proprietary ice-control cryopreservation technology and a unique library of cryoprotective materials, which significantly enhance the preservation of sperm, oocytes, and embryos, thereby improving the success rates of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

This strategic agreement represents a major step forward in the development of assisted reproductive technologies and signifies a new chapter of innovation and collaboration between academia and industry.

CellStore will continue to launch a series of assisted reproductive cryopreservation products and solutions that feature fully independent intellectual property, are DMSO-free, and offer enhanced safety and efficacy. These innovations aim to provide safe, efficient, and convenient solutions to current challenges in gamete and embryo cryopreservation and thawing, while also supporting the localization and substitution of imported products. Moreover, the technological outcomes of this project can be integrated across the entire reproductive support chain, enabling independent control of core technologies and bringing renewed hope to more couples struggling with infertility.

We firmly believe that, through joint efforts, the development of assisted reproductive technologies will continue to progress in a more orderly, safe, and standardized direction—helping every family in need of reproductive assistance fulfill their dream of having a child and welcoming healthy new life into the world.
