What is Neural Precursor Cell Cryopreservation Medium?

Neural Precursor Cell Cryopreservation Medium is a specialized, ready-to-use solution optimized for the cryopreservation and long-term storage of neural precursor cells (NPCs) — also known as neural progenitor cells or neural stem/progenitor cells — at ultra-low temperatures, typically in liquid nitrogen vapor phase (-150°C to -196°C). The cell preservation media's primary purpose is to protect these delicate, multipotent cells during freezing, storage, and thawing, minimizing cryoinjury from ice crystal formation, osmotic stress, membrane rupture, and apoptosis. This ensures high post-thaw viability (often >85–95% in optimized protocols), rapid recovery, maintenance of healthy morphology, preserved proliferative capacity, and retention of differentiation potential into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes — critical for neuroscience research, disease modeling, drug screening, and emerging regenerative therapies for neurological disorders.
